Conferences and Speakers

Texas Home School Coalition 2008 State Convention and Family Conference is held at The Woodlands Marriot Hotel in mid-August each year. Registration is free for THSC members, and more information can be found online at www.thsc.org 

SETHSA (South East Texas Home School Association). Their 23rd Annual Gulf Coast Home Educators Conference is being held June 5-6, 2009. This is a two day conference Houston at the Relilant Center. More information can be found online at: www.sethsa.org.

Hearth & Home Ministries, Inc. Annual Home School Book Fair is traditionally held on Mother’s Day weekend each year at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, Texas. This is the one of the largest conferences in our state. www.homeschoolbookfair.org .

Used Book Sales

Note: If you attend a used book sale and purchase a curriculum guide or teachers’ edition requiring a student workbook, be sure that the corresponding workbook is still available.

Homewood's Annual Used Book Sale will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009. This event normally takes place at Faith Bible Church. Watch for times and more information in the spring.

SETHSA Used Curriculum Sale is usually held right before the SETHSA Conference on a Thursday in Reliant Center, Hall C. Admission for buyers is $2.00 for everyone 12 years of age and older. Contact SETHSA at (281) 370-8787 or visit their website www.sethsa.org for more information.

Information On Classes For Students

PACES (Parent and Child Educational Services): Offers a one-day-a-week classical education program called PAideia Classical Education.  PAideia is a rigorous liberal arts education designed to develop a love of learning. Genesis Science (Dr. David Shormann) and HIS (Homeschool Instructional Support) classes: Goal is to assist parents by offering high quality college preparatory classes including Math, Science, Worldview, Writing, Foreign Languages and Art. Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy: Accepting full time and part time students PK – 10th grade. Lower school classes meet two days per week. Upper school classes meet three days per week. This is a University Model School--which is an actual private school working toward accreditation, and not a form of homeschooling.
